The absence of locks certainly makes getting from A to B much simpler. There is a bit more traffic now, perhaps as we get towards Easter week, which means coping with oncoming boats – normally not an issue but there was one close-ish call when passing a big, badly-moored boat one side at the same time.
I was also lucky to meet a passenger boat (which have priority) just before I reached the Malpas tunnel, rather than 300m later.
We’re lingering in Colombiers all day today, so might get the bikes out one more time. Aurélie’s mum joins us this afternoon so we can tackle the Fonserannes staircase together.
