With 5YO back at nursery, I had one day of transition planned before starting the next Running-centric phase. I had a double whammy of grooming lined up – Ted’s Grooming Room first for a haircut and shave as two weeks on the boat had left things pretty scruffy and I thought I’d let a professional have a go. Following that, a trip to The Refinery, an institution which I’ve started going to as frankly, getting older a trim on back and shoulders from time to time makes me feel less like I’m turning into The Beast.

Sandwiched between these two treatments was a visit to one of my favourite galleries in London, the Wallace Collection. Always brilliant, with a selection of arms and armour which I recognise as old friends, my mother having taken me to this place now and again since I was small.

The particular draw at the moment is a Henry Moore exhibition (half price, £6, with an Art Fund card), showing his “Helmet Heads”, particulatly fascinating as he himself had been inspired…by visiting the Wallace Collection!

Really interesting to see the objects the great man was inspired by, alongside the works he produced as a result. Below are two of his sculptures, along with a “sallet” from around 1450 (and in incredible condition!).
