Who needs a toy toolbox…

…when kids can have a real one?

We have a nice wooden set, which is all very well for a hammer, pliers, even the clamp works…but why have a saw in that set? As the kids are inevitably more interested in my tools than these toy ones, I thought I’d see about putting together a real set of small tools. It’s actually quite easy and satisfactory to do!

And it won’t fit in the toolbox, but this vice is very cute, and quite functional.

Obviously exercise caution – the most dangerous thing is, I think, the steel ruler, but I have no concerns about the other pieces. I dug out some clean and shiny nuts, bolts and screws to add to the set. I might get round to preparing some pre-drilled wood, plastic or metal to be screwed and connected up, but for now, the screws are just being put into old corks, which work very nicely for little hands.

The obvious thing I could add, but haven’t yet, is an allen key especially as we have a dozen or so around the place from Ikea. My only reservation is that 3YO may go around dismantling our furniture if she has the right tool to do so. :o)
