Running 2021 – Final Tally

My running goal for 2021 had started out as 1000km, building on the 500 miles (800km) of 2020. Aiming for ~20km a week went fine – 2 runs home from school a week, plus a longer one on Sunday, I started doing around 100km a month, so upped my goal to a spicier 1200km for the year. This was all fairly simple under Covid conditions, but as travel opened up, I lost a bit of mileage, but achieved it, just! Fortunately, no injuries during the year, nor any illness, not even Covid.

I did switch from Runkeeper to Strava during the year, as Runkeeper stopped tracking movement when the screen locked (on Android). This was annoying. I’ve been Strava ever since, it’s more widely used, which is nice, but a bit sad I no longer have the voice options (I liked the French lady telling me “good job! think of all the croissants you can have!” etc.)

The running goal for 2022 must therefore be 1000 miles, which is a big step up. (As I’m in fact writing this in May 2022, I can tell you, too big a step up!)
